My Turkey...

Let me tell you about my Turkey....

This year was my year to host Thanksgiving for the inlaws. I love having people over to entertain but it makes me nervous when I have to feed them. I know that I can cook but when there is 14 people anticipating a good meal sometimes the anxiety can arise. I have only cooked 1 other turkey about 10 years ago and when my dad was carving it he informed me that it wasn't cooked all of the way so needless to say I was very concerned about this one. I decided that I was going to roast it in a covered pan with a recipe that I got from the internet. I had a 16 lb fresh bird that I was going to put into an electric counter top roaster but the bird ended up being too large so the day before Thanksgiving I went shopping for a covered roaster that would accomodate it. I found one at good old Target :) That night I washed the bird and placed it in a bag with a salt water solution to brine it (it is supposed to help keep the moisture in). Thanksgiving morning I washed off the solution and put it in the roaster and brushed on the hearbs and olive oil. I ended up roasting it for almost 5 hours. It was time to move the bird onto the platter. O.M.G. I cooked it so long that it was falling apart. We had to pieve it back together on the plate so that it would somewhat resemble a turkey! All in all, it turned out to be a great tasting, tender and somewgat juicy turkey.

There is never a dull moment here! :)

crack...update

After 3 adjustments I think things are starting to feel a little better (just a little). It's quite strange how the body works though, I was expecting to feel immediate relief after the first adjustment. Let's just say I had a hard time falling asleep that night, the second night and it was alittle easier last night. For some reason I feel as though I was streched like a piece of saltwater taffy and I know that didn't happen but the little changes affected my entire body. Wow, I must have been out of whack. Next week I will go 3 times a week for a couple of weeks and then once a week for a while. Before long I will be back to the gym. Yeah! Hopefully I will be able to walk on the treadmill without my back hurting. :)

So as if that wasn't enough this morning I had a dental cleaning and exam. For the first time (ever) it didn't hurt, not even a little bit. I asked that a topical anesthetic be used around my gums and what a difference that made. Note to self, never see a hygienist without applying topical first! Great checkup! Yeah! The only downside is that once again I was informed that I should have my wisdom teeth removed. Not good! I probably will wait until next summer for that. I am a chicken huh? So this has been my exciting Friday!

Hope everyone else is having a great day too! Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. I am confident that after all is said and done I will be a new woman. Only this time I think I will keep the babies off my hips :)

crack.....

wow, I just had my first chiropractic experience. I can't quite say whether or not I enjoyed it yet but boy was I nervous. Why? who knows, maybe for me it was the fear of the unknown or better yet all the movies I watch where necks are broken with little effort. I am glad to say that nothing is broken :) So we reviewed my xrays from last night and without the doctor having to point it out I could see that my hip was crooked and there are pinched nerves in my upper spine. No wonder I have been hurting! He seems to think that this can be fixed in time. I am putting my utmost trust in him to fix me so I sure hope that he does.

4 Generations

What a fun breakfast we had this morning. My mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, mother in-law, father in-law, husband, kids and myself all met for breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. The boy's were so excited that all four of their grandma's and three of their papa's were all going to be together. This is something that we all agreed we are going to do more often.

Thanks for coming everyone!!!

These are the 5 most important things to me that I hope to instill in my children;

1. accountability: the quality or state of being accountable; especially : an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one's actions

2. compassion: sympatheic consciousness of other's distress together with a desire to alleviate it

3. trustworthy: worthy of confidence : dependable

4. faithful: steadfast in affection or allegiance : loyal

5. honesty: fairness and straightforwardness of conduct : adherance to the facts
