I am such a dope!

This morning I received a call from work asking if I was available. I said of course and then was given my assignment. Today, Middle School...yikes! So off I went to work. In my head I am thinking that I will probably get the lousy assignments today, like dishes and maintaining the salad bar, I am truly okay with that though. No! I am asked to work the outside breakfast bar and register. It's one thing if you know what you are doing but I was told in two minutes how to operate this thing and that if I needed help just yell. So swarms of kids are punching in their codes and grabbing all kinds of things, the computer alerts me when their account is low so I am supposed to (keyword "supposed") stop the line and take care of that transaction. Well flustered as I can get these kids showed me no mercy. I ended up with extra dollars in my hands that didn't get posted to the right kids account and to top it off I think I added $100.00 to one kids account instead of $1.00. Ooops!!!! So thankfully this only lasted 18 (long) minutes. I told my Supervisor what had happened and she just laughed. I think she was just glad someone was out there. Anyway, lunch roles around and my assignment changed to inside the cafeteria. This job entailed overseeing the line and watching over the student helpers while the attend the windows. I tell you, its pretty sad when a 6th Grader has to show you how to operate a machine! :o)

here I am....

Did you miss me? I missed blogging. I guess I was just waiting for something interesting to write about. So here it goes....

I have worked at 3 different schools as an official 'lunch lady' and again tomorrow. So far its been fun, it's a lot of hard work but the kids smiles make it all worth while. The part that I like the best is that this is an optional job. I don't have to work right now but filling in my day with a different routine has made me a happier person to be around, and everyone knows that if mom ain't happy, no one is! One thing is for sure, it hasn't made me want to eat anything from a can. I couldn't even tell you how many pounds of Ravioli I put into pans today. Canned ravioli, YUCK!

So we just got back from 4 days in Arizona. We had a really nice time. Long drive, but relaxing once we arrived. We stayed at The Embassy Suites and had plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing. Hanging out by the pool was pretty nice too. Aaron and his dad took Matthew to the shooting range and Matthew shot guns for the first time. If I had my way, it would never happen, but Aaron is teaching him safety first and it gives them something that they can do together. Matthew loved it! Guess what? The gun show was in town this weekend, so guess where we went? You got it! Let's just say that Aaron and Matthew enjoyed it. It was definitely a 'boy' weekend :)

I have to say that I am very proud of myself. As most of you know I battle major anxiety with driving and this trip was either gonna make me or break me. Well, Aaron started the drive up until we hit Beaumont and then I took it the rest of the 260+ miles. Aaron drove around town while we were there but then when it was time to come home I drove the whole way. There was only a couple of times that it was difficult for me. One being in the high winds though Coachella Valley and the other was coming out of the passes. The downhills kinda freak me out. So maybe I am beginning to conquer this debilitating way of life. I sure hope so :)

Here are some pic's from the weekend!
