old look, new year

Well he did! Matthew cut his hair. I think it looks nice...he of course has a different opinion. I did tell him that there is a positive side to this, hair grows back and his grows fast!

what are the chances?

So today I am tackling one of my many projects of cleaning things out. Years ago Sandy (my mother in law) brought over a bunch of things she purchased from a local yard sale. She was very adament about me not getting rid of this collection of cookbooks...so being the nice daughter in law I am I appeased her and held on to them. Curiosity drove me to take a closer look at these books this morning. As I started taking the books out I noticed that there were two pamphlets that had address labels on them. It struck me really weird because the address on the labels looked real familiar. So I call my mom and ask her what her address was when she was growing up. Do you know where this is going yet? Well when she told me the exact address that is on these labels that date back to 1968 I was floored. What are the chances of me having in my possesion cookbooks (or at least two pamphlets) that belonged to my Grandmother? Is this spooky or what? I guess things do come full circle.

summer fun...almost over

Well I have to say it has been a very rewarding summer. I have been allowed much needed time with my kids (and nieces and nephews). We have done many things, kept pretty busy and have many memories to reflect on. Usually about this time I am oh so ready for everyone to get back to school and for the scheduled days to begin. But I can honestly say that I am sad that it is ending (not just because I am going back to work!) I have enjoyed it and I am pretty sure the kids have too! Thanks for making it fun kids!!!!

not too bright tonight.......

I am usually very good about keeping my things in order. You know, things in my purse (wallet) credit cards, debit card, drivers license etc. Well I must have been either (1) pre-occupied or (2) hungry.

So tonight Vivian and I take Trevor to the movies. We are at the window ready to pay and here is where it happens..."where the ---- is my debit card?" hmmm let me think for a minute, when did I use it last? Oh yes, at Weinerschnitzel today for lunch! Fortunately Vivian was right next to me because of course I had no cash and the only credit card I have is at home. Thanks Viv! So I find the receipt for lunch (but still no card) so I call them to ask if my card is there. Let me tell you, there is a reason Weinerschnitzel pays their people minimum wage. Anyway, no luck there. So here I sit with a check that needs to be deposited, no cash, a husband away for the night and a near empty gas tank all on a saturday night. Feel sorry for me yet?

I guess all isn't bad though....the Mike's Hard Lemonade is starting to kick in!

Good night and sweet dreams :)

summer camp

Some people send their kids to camp during the summer in hopes of acheiving two things; something fun for the kids and peace at home. Then there are the types of people who create a camp for their kids; that is what happened this year, What a fun week it turned out to be! Given the amount of planning and work I would certainly do it all again. We are already looking forward to camp next year! Thanks for making it special :)
